Fire Safety & Prevention Awareness

On Feb.18th, a single-family residence in the 3500 block of Redwing Court caught fire where an elderly man got killed. Due to this heartbreaking incident, we decided to bring awareness to families in the community on what to do in such circumstances, and what precautions one should take, as we, kids do all different drills in the schools including fire drills but our parents, grandparents and us don't know how to react when it happens at home. With the help of NAPERVILLE FIRE DEPARTMENT PUBLIC EDUCATION SPECIALIST(MS. SORAYA McLaughlin) & NAPERVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY(95TH STREET), we are conducting a live interactive session on April 16th @7pm at 95th Street Naperville Public Library. It was a great success! Hesed House is a low threshold homeless shelter near downtown Aurora, IL which accepts the most vulnerable people from all walks of life. Hesed House is currently serving about 250 people onsite which includes adult men, adult women, and families. They are the second largest shelter in the state of Illinois, and are one of only a handful of shelters in the nation with a comprehensive resource center.

Hesed House relies heavily on volunteers that help with donating and serving meals, cleaning around the shelter, landscaping, sorting through donations, and much more! They practice a rapid-rehousing model which means they are trying to get people rehoused as quickly as possible when they come into the shelter.
